Mechanical Engineering

ME B.S.E. Program Educational 目标 are a set of skills that are necessary to function successfully in modern engineering practice. It is expected that ME graduates have been prepared in each of these areas and will exhibit each of these characteristics as they pursue their professional careers:

The objectives of the Mechanical Engineering program are to produce graduates who will:

• Function successfully in engineering roles within the automotive and other global industries,
• Engage in lifelong learning and pursue graduate study in mechanical engineering or other post-graduate education,
• Contribute effectively and ethically to a modern, multidisciplinary workplace, and
• Demonstrate effective communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Student 结果 are a set of skills that assure the achievement of the ME program educational objectives. Before graduating, ME students will demonstrate their skills in the following key areas:

1. An ability to identify, 制定, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, 科学, and mathematics.
2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, 安全, 和福利, as well as global, 文化, 社会, environmental, and 经济 factors.
3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, 经济, environmental, and societal contexts.
5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, 计划任务, and meet objectives.
6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
